Love Without Losing Yourself
When infatuation or relationship anxiety makes you forget your own interests, friends, and center.
What this ritual is for
This ritual will not make someone fall in love with you or manipulate someone’s free will. It ensures that when you choose to love someone, you don’t abandon your own spine in the process.
What you need(4 items)
- A rose or dried flower, or a sprig of fresh herb
- A pink, red, or white candle
- A small mirror
- Your personal journal
Practical substitutions
You don't need to buy specialty supplies. Use what's in your home.
- →Any flower from your yard or a green leaf from a houseplant.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Place yourself in the mirror
Sit before the mirror. Light the candle. Look past your hair and skin into your own pupils. The first recipient of romantic loyalty must always be the person looking back at you.
Define the non-negotiables
In your journal, write: 'I love deeply, but I do not abandon:' followed by three items (e.g., 'My financial autonomy', 'My solitude', 'My honesty about my feelings').
The floral offering to self
Hold the flower to your heart, then place it flat on your journal over your words. Love is not self-sacrifice; love is two sovereign beings choosing to walk parallel paths.
Seal the center
Extinguish the candle. Keep the flower pressed in your journal as a physical reminder of your uncompromised center.
Journal & Reflection Prompt
“Am I contorting myself to be what they want instead of letting them see who I actually am?”
