Pick a Damn Direction Ritual
Paralyzed between two options, stuck in endless pros-and-cons lists, wasting weeks in limbo.
What this ritual is for
No magical ritual can predict the future. But indecision is itself a decision to remain powerless. This ritual forces a commitment so momentum can return to your life.
What you need(4 items)
- A coin with distinct heads and tails
- Two small scraps of paper
- A candle or match
- A timer
Practical substitutions
You don't need to buy specialty supplies. Use what's in your home.
- →A simple coin flip or drawing from a cup works reliably.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Name the two paths
Write Option A on one slip of paper and Option B on the other. No hedging. No third 'maybe' option. (e.g., 'Stay at the job for 6 months' vs. 'Put in two weeks notice').
The gut-check flip
Assign Heads to Option A and Tails to Option B. Flip the coin high in the air. While it is spinning in the air, pay ferocious attention to what your body is secretly praying it lands on.
Read the body, not the coin
When the coin lands, look at it. If you feel relief, that’s your path. If you feel disappointment or urge to flip again, the OTHER option was your true answer all along.
Seal the trial
Burn or tear up the discarded option slip. Announce: 'I commit to this direction for thirty days. Movement creates clarity; hesitation breeds decay.'
Journal & Reflection Prompt
“What mistake am I so terrified of making that I'd rather stay stagnant forever?”
